May 19, 2013  How to tune your guitar with Mac’s Garageband The Love Song by Jean Antione Watteau linked form Wiki Commons uploaded by Andreagrossmann In this Quick Tip I will show you how to tune your Guitar with your Mac. Macs For Dummies, 12th Edition. You can connect real instruments, such as electric keyboards and guitars to your Mac for use in GarageBand. Using real instruments with GarageBand produces not only better sound, but realistic practice, as you finger the actual instrument and not an on-screen keyboard/string set. To record using GarageBand instruments: Select the GarageBand keyboard track. Go Window Show Musical Typing, or use the shortcut ⌘ + O to open the online MIDI keyboard. Hit the record icon and use the keys on your Mac keyboard to play your music. Click the record icon again to stop recording. Start playing the guitar with your amplifier close to it, and that should be enough for a very rough demo. 2) You can also purchase a Guitar to USB cable and hook your guitar directly up to GarageBand. This is an inferior way of recording guitar tracks as well, but it works if you’re running on a string budget. Oct 08, 2014  I'm not sure if this is posted in the right place, but if anyone could help me out, I would really appreciate it. I want to be able to play this song via the Garageband app, so I can re-record it for a birthday gift. It sounds fairly simple, and I've found the guitar tabs, but I can't figure out how to translate it into Garageband.

If you’re a guitarist who’s just getting started with GarageBand and are dying to jump in a start recording, you may be overwhelmed with the different gear options available to you.

While many would argue that the only way to accurately capture an electric guitar performance is by mic’ing up your amplifier and hitting record, in my latest video I share 3 ways that you can directly input your guitar into your Mac so that you can record it in GarageBand.

Directly inputting (or ‘DI-ing’) your instrument in this way gives you more control over how your recording sounds if you choose to use Garageband’s built in amp designer and/or Audio Unit plug ins.
